Most automotive enthusiasts know that an interest in cars is about more than driving. It’s about community. While we usually come together to appreciate the nuances in each other’s builds — the decisions each person makes to reflect who they are to the world as they drive down the road — our recent focus has been on future vehicologists who are fighting to take back the wheel from forces outside of their control.
Emili and Liv are two girls in our community, afflicted with chronic diseases at a young age. Emili was diagnosed with chronic kidney failure at the age of 6. Liv was diagnosed with Sanfilippo Syndrome, a rare and incurable progressive disease, around the age of 2
Both have shown incredible resolve in the face of years-long fights with still more to go.
In the past few months Le Pit Club has co-hosted fundraising efforts at a number of events:
- F1 Watch Party with East Bay Formula 1 Group on June 12th.
- Pit Stop at the Cobra Experience Museum on July 24th.
- Cars, Coffee & Hope at Perks, Lafayette on August 7th.
- Pit Stop at Artdeshine on August 14th.
There were raffles. There was community. There was laughter. There was hope. We are proud that we were able to do a small part in helping these girls, raising over $10,000 (including a $4,000 match by Le Pit Club).
If you’re reading this, we hope you will consider donating to their causes (links and more info below). Every dollar counts and goes to making a difference in these girls’ lives.
And if you are interested in being a part of something bigger than yourself, we’d love to see you at our next Le Pit Club event. Check our Events page for a schedule and more details.
